Rosemary - Rosmarinus officinalis - Rosemary is an ornamental evergreen shrub with attractive, aromatic, deep green leaves and blue flowers in spring and early summer. Although it is usually thought of as a herb for use in the kitchen, it is a colourful and attractive garden plant in its own right.

Traditional Uses

Rosemary is used to improve memory and concentration. It is also useful as an expectorant in respiratory diseases, and to alleviate muscular aches and poor circulation.

Why it works

The oil is beneficial for respiratory diseases because it has antibacterial properties and helps to remove excess mucus. Its warming effect on the skin is useful for treating muscular aches and pains. It also has cognition-stimulating effects. Caution: Do not take the oil internally. Do not use Rosemary oil during pregnancy.
